Yost married Magdalena Rickenbach about 1786 and she bore him 5 children before his early death at age 27. She then married Michael Troyer and bore him 4 children before she is said to have died at Walnut Creek in Holmes County, Ohio and was buried in the Troyer Valley Cemetery. Yost was a farmer and a preacher in the Glades Amish Mennonite Congregation and is probably buried in the Old Yoder Cemetery on his father's homestead, but there is no legible marker.
